My taxi service summer is finally over! The kids are all back in school, though, so the school taxi service has begun! lol! Caroline is self-sufficient, JD is riding along with her & can walk to work (woot). Nicky, on the other hand, wants to do a lot of after/before school stuff, so I'll be trekking to & from the high school for Orienteering, Aerospace Team, and like 3 other things :/ It wouldn't be so bad if the street wasn't so clogged up with rush hour traffic when it's time to pick him up. Sigh.
We kicked off August at the hair salon - Nicky finally relented to a hair cut, he couldn't stand it anymore after trying to grow it out over the summer. And yes, this is still his "normal" when it comes to photos!
He had one last summer hurrah with his friend Maggie. I took them to The Deep (comic book/gamer store) and then to Toy Box Bistro (our favoritest, and Maggie hadn't been yet). No. I did not eat the whole thing. I doggie bagged it and NICK ate the whole thing lol. It was goooooooooooood.
We had a game night, since I bought new games. You've Got Crabs is hilarious. It's based off an old parlor game (I can't remember off the top of my head, it starts with a K), and it's with teams, so Nick and I took turns playing with the kids. I think the expansion pack will be finding it's way under the Christmas tree this year as well as Bears vs Babies ;) We love the games from The Oatmeal!
Nicky had orientation at school, and JD had his 2nd job interview
Sonic was on the lunch menu a couple of times this month. Popcorn chicken and tots ...
JD's second interview panned out into his first job ever! It's just Little Caesar's but everybody has to start somewhere right? The GM said she liked them fresh out of high school with no work experience because they're "more trainable". Sounds like a deal to me ;) Bonus - it's right around the corner so he can huff it on foot!
After a lot of procrastinating and a lot of cursing and a lot of researching on the Best Buy website, I broke down and bought a new computer - and I'm glad I did! It's bigger than I though it would be, but that's ok. It runs SO much better than my tower did, plus I got a $20 printer out of the deal, lol. After I got them settled in on my desk, the whole family vultured and everybody got a piece of the old set up, lol
Yes, we watched Deadpool... and we watched Avengers Infinity War. I loved both movies - even though Avengers ended the way that it did. SIGH. I can't wait to see how they pull that one around :P
I still haven't cracked open my polymer clay - UGH! Just what the heck. The girl got her license, JD can walk to work (actually prefers it that way) - life is supposed to be easier for me right now!
March was a pretty full tv plate. I ended up with bronchitis one week. That was fun. NOT. I very much had a lack of wanting to do anything except be a potato, so I changed my name to Spud :P
Perusing Hulu, I found some repeats to watch.... I'm a huge "Alien" fan, and love the Harry Potter series. I wish Rick Riordan would put his Egyptian series, The Kane Chronicles, on the big screen!
Our family movies nights this month were A.W.E.S.O.M.E.! We watched Justice League & the new Jumanji. Was NOT disappointed... Flash had us laughing, and Aquaman is just yummy. I will say, I'm not a fan of Ben Affleck as Batman. Nick didn't think he would enjoy Jumanji, but he was WRONG! I mean c'mon - lookit the cast! lol!
In TV series land, these shows are on my playlist, and I'm loving every second! I've finished Jessica Jones already (seriously hating on Trish now) and Gotham got really good this month. I've gotten behind on iZombie because I watch that one with the girl and she's been busy with school and work the last couple of weeks.
Supernatural did not disappoint us this month either, especially with the "Scooby-Natural" episode!
The kids and I looooooooooooooooved it LOL!
Have a great weekend!
It's been an interesting month and I'm super glad it's just about over. Between the rotten weather, more dentist appointments, and running people to where they need to be, I could easily sleep through the rest of the school year, lol.
The T.A.R.D.I.S. landed on my roof. It happens EVERY DAY at the SAME TIME. We've been living here almost 2 years, and I didn't notice until this month, lol. JD swore up and down that I photoshopped the T.A.R.D.I.S. shadow on to the fence --- until he saw it for himself the next day, and realized what it really is, LOL!
Nothing like a little WWE in the living room. Boys :P
The boys had their Spring Break the week of St Patty's day, and we spent most of it at the dentist's office, which was ugh! So that Friday I took them to a trampoline park, along with 3 of Nicky's friends, to get something fun done. Luckily, Caroline had that day off of work and school, so she was able to participate as well. They said it was a lot of fun and worth the money spent, so it's gone on my "things to do when the kids are driving me nuts in the house" list LOL
We had a couple of family movie nights this month... and even though the youngest in the house is 15, I made them all watch cartoons. Yep. I will never be too old for cartoons (throw some old school Scooby Doo and Jabberjaw on the tv and I'm there!).
The Emoji Movie and Boss Baby were actually not bad... we enjoyed them! Nick rented Jigsaw, but I refused to watch it. I heard a lot of the movie since he ran it on the living room tv, that was bad enough. After that movie, I wanted something lighter, so I went with cartoons.
(I quit watching the Saw movies after the first one)
Blade Runner 2049 was a tough sell for me because I haven't watched the original (I know... bad me...). Maybe the whole plot for 2049 will make better sense if I go hunt down the original, lol
In TV Series land, I'm caught up on all 7 and a half seasons of The Walking Dead! It was 3 1/2 weeks of an emotional rollercoaster ride that I don't regret at all, lol.
Nick and I picked up the Alienist - I am NOT a fan of Dakota Fanning's character, but the show overall isn't half bad. Bellevue I picked up because of Anna Paquin. I loved True Blood, but Anna Paquin's acting could be better, both in True Blood and in Bellevue. It's not a bad series, though... we're still trying to figure out "whodunnit". I started watching Altered Carbon on Netflix because facebook kept shoving ads for it into my newsfeed. It's weird. I'm on episode 3 and the jury is still out on it. It has a lot of boobs. So did Blade Runner, now that I think about it :P
So that's what's been on my TV this month. I'm anxiously awaiting iZombie and Gotham to return (soon!!) and ready for Justice League to get off the "buy it early" stage of the game on directv cinema and move into the "rent it now" stage. Aquaman. That's pretty much the only reason why I want to see it. LOL!!
We're about to say goodbye to February. We've been rather busy this month between school, running my daughter between school and work while working on her driving skills, and dentist appointments. SO many dentist appointments to get teeth fixed, cavities filled, and we're starting the process to get Invisilign into my daughter's mouth to fix her overbite. Fun stuff! :P A poem struck me after one of the last dentist visits we had, so I typed it out and had Nicky read it to the other 2. They weren't amused. I thought it was pretty funny myself - but I'm easily amused, lol
Earlier this month, my step daughter had her first baby... he's super cute...
Nick will be going to NC next month to get his Grandpa cuddles in :)
This past week I got to meet Lori Bickford - some of you may know her, or of her, or at least seen her pages over at PBP. Jenn (Joyful Heart Designs) and I met up with her for lunch at one of my most favoritest of all places. We all epically failed at remembering to take a photo. DERP. Today I'm meeting another designer for lunch that couldn't make it earlier this week!
That's pretty much been it for this month's highlights... I literally have no more pictures to share, unless you want to see the blurry woodpecker I tried to get a pic of, LOL
Have a great weekend!
