A dog on chipmunk alert cannot be waivered from her task... unless I pick her up and take her to the vet for her annual shots :P She ended up not feeling well for a couple of days afterwards, but she's back to being her on-alert little self!
Then there was ... The Great DMV Fiasco. My daughter had an appointment to take the road test to get her license (after 9 months of driving practice). Long story short, her battery died 15 minutes before it was her turn to take the test. 2 hours and 1 teary-eyed teenager later, Awesome Austin at Nissan saved us, got it jumped, and she passed the test with a solid 100! Woohoo! Meanwhile, Nicky was inside taking the learner's license test. He passed, and is now ready for Driver's Ed!
Then we went straight from the DMV to the Autozone and got her a new battery, LOL!
Enter Father's Day and the Exotic Meats Man Crate... interesting, LOL! I love their site... last year we got him an ammo can filled with (normal) jerky, lol. This year he got venison, wild boar, elk, buffalo, biltong (what the heck is a biltong??), alligator, pheasant, duck, ostrich and gator... some of it came as jerky, others came in the form of "meat sticks" ... like a slim jim.
The catches of the month... Nicky caught his first catfish (with a top water bait - figure that one out!), and try as he may, Nick still couldn't beat out Nicky's 6 pound bass catch from last month, lol.
In between all of these happenings, there were pool visits, sleep-overs, driving practice for JD, trips to Shakalaka (a trampoline park), trips to Sonic (my new favorite fast food chain)...... and a serious lack of design mojo. UGH. I got a load of classes from Creative Live ~ I figure if I'm not going to design something I might as well try and learn something, right? A lot of the stuff I've watched so far have mostly been refreshers. I'm enjoying the "down time" though... and doodling on (actual!) paper while I watch & listen :)
I used to be big into clay "back in the day" and have had an itch to get back into it, so I ordered a sort of sampler of polymer clay and some tools to see if that's still a "thing" for me. That should get here today, so I'll be able to fool around with that next week :D
Have a great weekend!
It's been a busy month.... the 2017-2018 school year has FINALLY come to an end! Caroline is pushing for as many work hours as she can get, and is pushing for more drive time. We've scheduled her road test, and she's scheduled a couple of sessions with the local driving academy as well. That dude is awesome - he's going to run her through the test a couple of times so she's not so nervous. JD is on the job hunt, although I'm pretty sure he's going to end up at Kroger with his sister. I don't think it's a bad thing at all. A pay check is a pay check, right? Especially if you want a car. And a license. And a college education. And a place of your own... lol
So here's what we had going on this month!
Several months ago, Nicky said he wanted a bike, now that he has friends in the neighborhoods around us, so I made a deal with him. He has been keeping his end, so this month, I kept my end (it helped that Academy was having a bike sale!). In the state of AL, children have to wear bike helmets until they are 16, so we had to pick one of those up, too (he picked the red one, but I was silently rooting for the skull, lol)
My dog has a nose for things that "don't belong" in her realm... This month she found the snake, several resident chipmunks, lots of squirrels, a couple of birds, and this not-so-little skink
(these things are awesome)
Nicky caught the biggest bass he's caught yet (6lbs 10oz!) out at Madison Lake. He was super-psyched about it. Meanwhile, I was out at the college with the older two (classes ended... empty parking lot? yes please), doing some driving and parking practice. I have a few more gray hairs now...
My blanket ended up smelling like dog-butt... AGAIN... so the dog's butt got washed. She's not a water dog... at.all. BUT, once I've tricked her into being closed up in the bathroom with me, she patiently waits on the rug for the tub to fill, then I drop her in. As long as I don't get her head wet or soap in her ears, she's ok with it. Now. A couple of years ago, that wasn't the case, lol!
JD officially graduated from high school this month. We are very proud of him! The ceremony was looooooong, and he was at the tail end of the stage walk, lol. We ended up having a late dinner at Toy Box afterwards (where he rocked that bow tie!)
Finally... a few pics from Nick's visit with the grandson... he is head over heels for this little guy
I hope May treated you well. If you had a child, niece, nephew, cousin, or other family member graduate this month - CONGRATS!! It's such an emotional rollercoaster ride for both the graduate and the adult. I have one more to go, but I have a few years to prepare for it! ;)
Have a great weekend!
It's that time of year when we are all looking forward to the school semester ending so we can take nearly 3 months "off" from that grind. I'm ready for summer because I have two teenagers who need licenses. I get that it's part of my job as their mom, but chauffering sucks, lol. It's past time for them to be schlepping themselves around :P
We kicked off this month with "enrichment day". It was a half day at the high school - but only for the juniors who were given the ACT that day. The rest of the kids had to go find something 'enriching' to do. So I took them for a study in gravity and wore them out....
They learned about jousting too ;)
.... and then I took them to our favorite "toy museum"
(not my fault they have food! besides... they needed to refuel :P)
Me: What are you doing... in my chair... on my blanket??
Tippy: You can't see me being a slug!
And she is NOT a water dog. At all. I hate it when it rains because I never know if I'm going to be cleaning up an "accident" in the house or not.
Pretty boring month, but that's ok. Next month won't be! We'll be double-timing the driving practice, and one teenager is graduating and there are all kinds of activities associated with that. Plus said graduating teenager will be looking for a job so he can get his own car.... and I'll be down to just chauffering ONE teenager next school year.
Go away, Murphy.
It's been an interesting month and I'm super glad it's just about over. Between the rotten weather, more dentist appointments, and running people to where they need to be, I could easily sleep through the rest of the school year, lol.
The T.A.R.D.I.S. landed on my roof. It happens EVERY DAY at the SAME TIME. We've been living here almost 2 years, and I didn't notice until this month, lol. JD swore up and down that I photoshopped the T.A.R.D.I.S. shadow on to the fence --- until he saw it for himself the next day, and realized what it really is, LOL!
Nothing like a little WWE in the living room. Boys :P
The boys had their Spring Break the week of St Patty's day, and we spent most of it at the dentist's office, which was ugh! So that Friday I took them to a trampoline park, along with 3 of Nicky's friends, to get something fun done. Luckily, Caroline had that day off of work and school, so she was able to participate as well. They said it was a lot of fun and worth the money spent, so it's gone on my "things to do when the kids are driving me nuts in the house" list LOL
We're about to say goodbye to February. We've been rather busy this month between school, running my daughter between school and work while working on her driving skills, and dentist appointments. SO many dentist appointments to get teeth fixed, cavities filled, and we're starting the process to get Invisilign into my daughter's mouth to fix her overbite. Fun stuff! :P A poem struck me after one of the last dentist visits we had, so I typed it out and had Nicky read it to the other 2. They weren't amused. I thought it was pretty funny myself - but I'm easily amused, lol
Earlier this month, my step daughter had her first baby... he's super cute...
Nick will be going to NC next month to get his Grandpa cuddles in :)
This past week I got to meet Lori Bickford - some of you may know her, or of her, or at least seen her pages over at PBP. Jenn (Joyful Heart Designs) and I met up with her for lunch at one of my most favoritest of all places. We all epically failed at remembering to take a photo. DERP. Today I'm meeting another designer for lunch that couldn't make it earlier this week!
That's pretty much been it for this month's highlights... I literally have no more pictures to share, unless you want to see the blurry woodpecker I tried to get a pic of, LOL
Have a great weekend!
