Another busy month --- and forgetting to pull my camera out LOL! So it's been a pretty lame photo month :P But I have the memories, right? :)
My own birthday was early this month as well. Nick surprised me with a complete Doctor Who collection on DVD and a 3D printed hulk, lol
Nicky rocked guitar hero so hard he made his finger bleed LOL
That pretty much wraps up this month. I spent a lot of time in the car because the girl's car went to the shop for repairs. I had to take the older two to school and pick them up, take the girl to work and pick her up.... talk about the longest week of my life. That was the most sunrises I'd seen all year, lol!
I'm so late posting this... we had a hiccup this week :/
I can't believe we are heading into October already! Somebody stop this merry-go-round, I want off... at least for a little while, geez!
These little guys were in our backyard. The one on the top (and on the right) was a little firecracker. He had no qualms about attacking our feet, lol. They have all since moved out of this little hole in the ground and moved off to parts unknown with their mother.
Our hallway bathroom. UGH. For 2 years it oozed yellow... stuff (most likely the rental company used an oil-based paint). When that finally quit, the paint started peeling off the walls. So, Nick stripped it down, spackled up what needed to be spackled, sanded it all down, and then we Kilz it and painted it. It looks so much better now!
My dog had to go to the vet for a liver enzyme recheck... they clipped her nails and drew blood first, so she thought she was done and couldn't understand why I was still sitting, lol. After an x-ray and an ultrasound, she was PAST ready to go
I purchased a Lucky Tackle Box subscription for these boys... it's fun to watch them banter and deal back and forth over who is going to get what out of the box, lol
Some of our eats this month. We ended up at Buena Vista, Toy Box and Chili's. We also had a date night at Texas Roadhouse... and the kids ended up at Toy Box, again, lol.
This is why I didn't get this posted yesterday...
The girl got rear-ended on the way to school. UGH. Such a pita to deal with, but the guy that hit her admitted he was the one in the wrong, so that should make things easier. Between her and JD (who was in the car as well - and they are both fine, btw, thank goodness!), they managed to get what happened to our insurance company and we start dealing with getting it fixed next week. Poor little Spark! I'm just glad it wasn't more serious and everyone involved came out of it unscathed.
Hopefully, October is a little less "eventful", lol!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
My taxi service summer is finally over! The kids are all back in school, though, so the school taxi service has begun! lol! Caroline is self-sufficient, JD is riding along with her & can walk to work (woot). Nicky, on the other hand, wants to do a lot of after/before school stuff, so I'll be trekking to & from the high school for Orienteering, Aerospace Team, and like 3 other things :/ It wouldn't be so bad if the street wasn't so clogged up with rush hour traffic when it's time to pick him up. Sigh.
We kicked off August at the hair salon - Nicky finally relented to a hair cut, he couldn't stand it anymore after trying to grow it out over the summer. And yes, this is still his "normal" when it comes to photos!
He had one last summer hurrah with his friend Maggie. I took them to The Deep (comic book/gamer store) and then to Toy Box Bistro (our favoritest, and Maggie hadn't been yet). No. I did not eat the whole thing. I doggie bagged it and NICK ate the whole thing lol. It was goooooooooooood.
We had a game night, since I bought new games. You've Got Crabs is hilarious. It's based off an old parlor game (I can't remember off the top of my head, it starts with a K), and it's with teams, so Nick and I took turns playing with the kids. I think the expansion pack will be finding it's way under the Christmas tree this year as well as Bears vs Babies ;) We love the games from The Oatmeal!
Nicky had orientation at school, and JD had his 2nd job interview
Sonic was on the lunch menu a couple of times this month. Popcorn chicken and tots ...
JD's second interview panned out into his first job ever! It's just Little Caesar's but everybody has to start somewhere right? The GM said she liked them fresh out of high school with no work experience because they're "more trainable". Sounds like a deal to me ;) Bonus - it's right around the corner so he can huff it on foot!
After a lot of procrastinating and a lot of cursing and a lot of researching on the Best Buy website, I broke down and bought a new computer - and I'm glad I did! It's bigger than I though it would be, but that's ok. It runs SO much better than my tower did, plus I got a $20 printer out of the deal, lol. After I got them settled in on my desk, the whole family vultured and everybody got a piece of the old set up, lol
Yes, we watched Deadpool... and we watched Avengers Infinity War. I loved both movies - even though Avengers ended the way that it did. SIGH. I can't wait to see how they pull that one around :P
I still haven't cracked open my polymer clay - UGH! Just what the heck. The girl got her license, JD can walk to work (actually prefers it that way) - life is supposed to be easier for me right now!
Is anybody else tired of the summer season yet? I don't think I am, I think I'm just tired, lol.
My polymer clay came in and do you think I've had time to do anything with it? Right... no, lol. I'm shooting for some play time when the kids are all back in school again next month. I also broke down & bought an elliptical. I've even been a good girl & have been getting on it 3-4 times a week! Now... if I could just kill/cure my popcorn chicken and tots cravings every couple of weeks... LOL
4th of July... yes I might have spent a little too much money, but we had a lot of fun!
(The dog was not very appreciative, though!)
My mom hasn't been able to travel in a couple of years, so she sent me to Jules J Berta Vineyard in Albertville to pick up a case of wine for her since we only live an hour and a half away. JD came with (he had nothing better to do). They have a nice little shop that I wish I had had more time to peruse! Next time. And there will be a next time... they're in the process of making a cranberry wine that Mom wants to stock up on again (I've had it, it's really good!)
On the way to the vineyard, we passed through Guntersville... It's really pretty out there, and the lake looks fabulous! JD took these pictures for me because, ya know, I was driving........ and yelling at him to "take a picture of that!"
Last week we headed down to my parent's house for a week-long visit so I could help my Mom out. Caroline and Nick stayed behind because they both had to work. It was just me & the boys... and one very excited copilot, who has learned about the awesomeness of drive thru windows and pet-friendly rest areas, LOL!
The next prompt is a lotus flower :/ That's it for this month... I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted, as usual. I used to be so picture-takey-all-the-time, and now I'd rather be one of those enjoy-the-moments type people (it's more fun and less stressful LOL)
A dog on chipmunk alert cannot be waivered from her task... unless I pick her up and take her to the vet for her annual shots :P She ended up not feeling well for a couple of days afterwards, but she's back to being her on-alert little self!
Then there was ... The Great DMV Fiasco. My daughter had an appointment to take the road test to get her license (after 9 months of driving practice). Long story short, her battery died 15 minutes before it was her turn to take the test. 2 hours and 1 teary-eyed teenager later, Awesome Austin at Nissan saved us, got it jumped, and she passed the test with a solid 100! Woohoo! Meanwhile, Nicky was inside taking the learner's license test. He passed, and is now ready for Driver's Ed!
Then we went straight from the DMV to the Autozone and got her a new battery, LOL!
Enter Father's Day and the Exotic Meats Man Crate... interesting, LOL! I love their site... last year we got him an ammo can filled with (normal) jerky, lol. This year he got venison, wild boar, elk, buffalo, biltong (what the heck is a biltong??), alligator, pheasant, duck, ostrich and gator... some of it came as jerky, others came in the form of "meat sticks" ... like a slim jim.
The catches of the month... Nicky caught his first catfish (with a top water bait - figure that one out!), and try as he may, Nick still couldn't beat out Nicky's 6 pound bass catch from last month, lol.
In between all of these happenings, there were pool visits, sleep-overs, driving practice for JD, trips to Shakalaka (a trampoline park), trips to Sonic (my new favorite fast food chain)...... and a serious lack of design mojo. UGH. I got a load of classes from Creative Live ~ I figure if I'm not going to design something I might as well try and learn something, right? A lot of the stuff I've watched so far have mostly been refreshers. I'm enjoying the "down time" though... and doodling on (actual!) paper while I watch & listen :)
I used to be big into clay "back in the day" and have had an itch to get back into it, so I ordered a sort of sampler of polymer clay and some tools to see if that's still a "thing" for me. That should get here today, so I'll be able to fool around with that next week :D
Have a great weekend!
